The Butchering Intifada and the Season of Misinformation

The use of knives as the weapon of choice for butchering Jews can be traced to the Har Nof Massacre in November, 2014. The western media has been complicit and instrumental in advancing this religiously inspired campaign of hate, through its “mistakes” and “errors” in its reporting of terror attacks. Most notably last year when CNN “mistakenly” reported a synagogue as a mosque. CNN was not alone, many other western news agencies too made this error on the same story. Others claiming that Har Nof, which is located in West Jerusalem, well within Israel’s pre 1967 borders, was in ‘disputed’ territory. This can only be due to the media breathing the air that Israel is always wrong and the Palestinians are always right. Such fundamental errors in representing the facts are not found by the same news channels when reporting elsewhere.

At Har Nof the terrorists brought guns with them but they only shot the policemen. The worshippers at Har Nof were murdered in an ISIS style massacre. Now, the theme of the latest Terror War can be best described as the Butchering Intifada. Where Palestinians armed with knives seek out innocent Jews to butcher. This is bringing ISIS theology to the Palestinians in their war against the Jews.

In a recent poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, 67% of Palestinians polled support and 31% opposed use of knives in the current confrontations with Israel. 66% of the public (71% in the Gaza Strip and 63% in the West Bank) believe that if the current confrontations develop into an armed intifada, such a development would serve Palestinian national interests in ways that negotiations could not.

Consistent with these figures, they reflect current attitudes prevalent in the Arab world. Al Jazeera conducted a poll back in May 2015 on its website asking, “Do you support the organising victories of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria?” To which 81% responded yes, with only 19% voting no.

The trigger that sparked the current campaign of murder began on the first day of Rosh Hashana when Palestinians killed a Jewish man, Alexander Levlovich, 64, by throwing stones at his car. The New York Times erroneously misled its readers into believing that this was an accident by reporting an article written by Diaa Hadid with the headline Jewish Man Dies as Rocks Pelt His Car in East Jerusalem. This was followed by daily stabbing attacks that have continued ever since.

In order not to offend Palestinian murderers, reporters resort to describing these attacks as part of an ongoing cycle of violence, at best, and at worst an Israeli policy of “extra-judicial killings.” The truth is, it’s artificial, Israel is held up to unbelievable standards of scrutiny whilst the Palestinians are permitted to allow their imaginations to run wild.

This kind of media manipulation leads to even policy makers coming to accept media narratives. US State Department spokesman, John Kirby said in his initial briefing in front of journalists, “We’ve certainly seen some reports of what many would consider excessive use of force. Obviously we don’t like to see that.”

The US state department is buying into this false Palestinian narrative behind the conflict and its current manifestation of blaming indiscriminate murder of Jews and blatant incitement of Jew hatred on libelous allegations against Israel’s supposed plans to change the status quo regarding the Temple Mount or the Haram al Sharif shrine.

The New York Times continued to undermine Israel’s position with an article by Rick Gladstone calling into question the historical origins of the first and second temples, the holiest site in Judaism being located on the Temple Mount. In light of Palestinian denial that a Jewish temple ever existed at that site.

To entertain and give voice to such notions is extremely offensive to Jews throughout the world. A comparison would be to suggest that Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran and has no significance to Islam. From an historical perspective, Muhammad never came to Jerusalem and the Al Aqsa Mosque is nothing more than an Islamic attempt to erase Jewish history. One could apply this same level of scrutiny to the historicity of the New Testament and places of Christian pilgrimage in the Holy Land, or whether in fact Muhammed did have a dream where he ascended to heaven at the Temple Mount on top of his horse Barak according to the Hadith.

The New Testament testifies to the existence of the second temple in Jerusalem where in the gospels Jesus turns over the tables of the money changers. As well in the book of Acts where Paul is asked to bring a sacrifice to the Temple by James and the Jerusalem Church.

The sanctity of the Temple Mount is a central component to Judaism that is unrelated to Israeli political goals. Even through contemporary popular culture, everybody knows that Jews as part of their wedding ceremonies tread on and break the glass in order to remember the destruction of the temple.

The New York Times is now joining the deniers of history like the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. They are now reaching a new level of media malpractice

MSNBC’s reporter, Ayman Mohyeldin, reported from Jerusalem’s Damascus Gate where Israeli policemen shot and killed a Palestinian with a knife, planning to kill Israelis. The reporter in a live report claimed that the knife wielder was unarmed and shot in cold blood. When in fact the MSNBC anchor from New York had to interrupt Mohyeldin to inform him that he was watching video footage where the man clearly had a knife in his hand. Mohyeldin has still not been fired.

“Palestinian shot dead after Jerusalem attack kills two,” was the BBC’s headline, aimed at obscuring the identity of the attacker and the attacked. In a normal article a more accurate headline would be, “Palestinian knife wielder stabs two innocent Jews in Jerusalem.”

MK Yair Lapid, leader of the Israeli centrist party, Yesh Atid, expressed outrage on behalf of the Israeli public at the BBC. “In the past two weeks terrorists are chasing Israeli civilians across the country armed with knives, axes and guns,” he wrote. “Jihadists are murdering and maiming, stabbing and burning. They no longer pretend this is about foreign policy, or even about settlements. It is religious fanaticism which knows no limits. In their own words – and I see no reason not to believe them – they want to murder Jews because they are Jews.”

Obviously the BBC, like the New York Times was doing damage control and doing PR for Palestinian terrorists.

The level of media misinformation has compelled the ADL’s new director, Jonathan Greenblatt to state that the “Western media often looks for equivalence, and so in that effort to find equivalence and a quote on quote ‘story,’ they often end up warping the reality and the facts on the ground.”

The agenda and driving force behind these attacks has very little to do with a failed peace process, or an attempt to coerce Israeli civilians to put pressure on the government to making concessions.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been supporting extremist attempts to harass Jews wishing to visit the Temple Mount. He has said, “The Al-Aqsa [Mosque] is ours… and they have no right to defile it with their filthy feet. We will not allow them to, and we will do everything in our power to protect Jerusalem…”

The official daily newspaper of the Palestinian Authority, al-Hayat al-Jadida, featured an article claiming that the terror in Paris was orchestrated by the Mossad as an Israeli response to the EU labeling of Israeli products and an attempt to thwart EU efforts to impose a two-state solution. In cringing language resembling conspiracy theories about the Jews originating in the forgery, Protocols of the Elders of Zion, it said, “The wise and correct thing is to look for who benefits…In short: They need to search the last place reached by the octopus arms of the Mossad… It is clear that its ‘Mossad’ will burn Beirut and Paris in order to achieve [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s goals. He, who challenged the master of the White House, hides in his soul enough evil to burn the world.”

The face of the Palestinian Authority whilst on the one hand claims to support a two state solution, on the other is endorsing anti-Semitic tropes.

This new Butchering Intifada in Israel is an extension of a global effort to restore an Islamic Caliphate from Paris to Jerusalem. Where both Israel and Paris and now San Bernardino are seen as fronts in this war.

The free world is now experiencing first hand what Israel is facing. Yet they fail to accept that the Palestinian stabbing attacks against Israelis is motivated by the same ideology of ISIS. They cannot have it both ways. They must acknowledge that the threats Israel faces are the same faced by France and elsewhere. The Israeli policies that are often criticized, they will now realize are essential for combating Islamist terrorism and incitement on their own doorstep.
The western media’s undermining of Israel’s legitimate right to defend itself must end. What we are seeing instead is how the world’s longest hatred is manifesting itself once again in a new incarnation. Rather than see Israel as a partner and the beacon of western values on the front line in a region of medieval barbarism, growing numbers of reporters are finding it much more convenient to side with the Palestinians and just blame it on the Jews.
